The Step Up Employment Program has helped nearly 1,400 young people have the opportunity to grow, train and intern with employers from 15 different industries every year. The program has been around for 17 years now.

The goal of the program is to help grow both the local economy and the partnership between Minneapolis and its youth.

"This is a program that works, that is valuable to both the employer and the interns alike, and it’s one that I think we need to not only continuing but increasing," Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said of the program.
