120-year-old Melrose church starts demolition

CHOPPER 5 was able to fly over the demolition of a 120-year-old church in Melrose Tuesday afternoon.

Saint Mary’s Catholic Church was intentionally set on fire back in 2016. The parish council decided to knock it down and build a new one.

The city administrator tells 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS the crosses were removed Monday and the real demolition started Tuesday.

They also say there is also progress being made at the new church.
