The Gusties jumped out to a 3-0 behind an early natural hat trick from junior forward Emily Olson. Olson scored her third goal with 16:38 left in the second period.

From there, the Auggies took over. Kensie Malone scored to make it 3-1 with 15:16 left in the second period. Then, Katie Flynn scored to make it 3-2 with 8:30 remaining in the second. Hannah Gold tied the game at 3-3 with 7:32 left in the second. Finally, Alex Collins gave the Auggies a 4-3 lead with 5:37 remaining in the second period.

The Gusties (16-2-2, 10-0-2 MIAC) had only allowed three goals in MIAC conference games before giving up four second-period goals, including three goals in less than three minutes to Augsburg (10-8-2, 6-4-2 MIAC).

But, Gustavus tied the game 4-4 when Brooke Power scored with under a minute left in the second period.

The teams seemingly used all of their goals up in the second period, going scoreless in the third period and overtime. In overtime, Augsburg senior goalie Abby Bollig made an incredible save as the period expired, clinching the tie and sending the game into a shootout for the extra standings point.

In the shootout, both goalies stopped the first three shooters. Then, Gusties senior forward Tina Press scored in the fourth round of the shootout and junior goalie Katie McCoy stopped an Augsburg shot to secure the point for the Gusties.
