Severe storms brought large hail to much of the Metro, with dry skies now into Saturday

Good evening! Severe storms after 4PM and before 8PM tonight brought nearly widespread hail to the Twin Cities. Large hail and damaging winds were reported across most of central and southern Minnesota into Wisconsin. Hail reports were as large as 2.5″ in the metro, which is tennis ball sized hail. Hail reports just shy of a softball were reported in Meeker County. A spotter confirmed tornado was reported in Dodge and Olmstead counties, specifically at 7:25 PM. Localized flooding was reported in the Twin Cities, especially in Uptown.

Showers and storms are ending now, and we are not looking at any strong to severe storm the rest of the night. Overnight cloud cover clears, and that sets us up for a mostly sunny morning. Saturday is a breezy day, with highs reaching about 83°. You may notice a few additional afternoon and evening clouds. Isolated showers and week t’storms are possible Up North Saturday PM. Otherwise, Sunday is a soggy one, with the chance for scattered showers and storms throughout the day, especially Sunday late morning through the afternoon into the overnight hours. Sunday will be cooler, with highs in the mid-70s.

I hope you don’t have storm damage, and have a wonderful weekend!
