Q&A: Former Prior Lake star Dawson Garcia commits to Gophers

North Carolina transfer Dawson Garcia announced on social media that he has committed to the Gophers men’s basketball program on Monday.

Garcia, a former McDonald’s All-American at Prior Lake High School, averaged nine points per game in 16 games this season for the Tar Heels. Garcia left the team in January for family reasons.
At 6’11”, Garcia immediately improves Ben Johnson’s frontcourt. Garcia began his college career at Marquette where he averaged 13 points and 6.6 rebounds per game during the 2020-2021 season.
