12 Days of Grilling: Ribeye

The Minnesota Beef Council and the Minnesota Pork Board presents the third day of TCL’s 12 Days of Grilling, and it is time to bring out the beef! Steve Vranian from Gianni’s Steakhouse joins us today to showcase his favorite steak: the ribeye.
Here are Steve’s tips to achieve the perfect steak:
- Keep the steak chilled, and pat dry with a towel before grilling
- Oil the grate or use a plancha
- Put olive oil, bay leaf and other fresh herbs on a plate and rest the steak there. Salt and pepper the steak as it rests.
- Turn frequently on the grill and don’t worry about grill marks; go for a crust!
- You can tell the steak is done using the Fist Technique
- Make a tight fist and press your on your palm below your thumb. This is what “done” feels like.
- Make a loose fist, and this is what “rare” feels like.
