Lunch for Valentine’s Day

Laurie Crowell, owner of Golden Fig Fine Foods, puts together a light lunch that is perfect for Valentine’s Day with goat cheese hearts rolled in chocolate pepper, spinach salad with strawberries and chocolate balsamic and a blood orange non-alcoholic “faux-mosa”.

Chocolate Chevre Hearts

4 oz chevre
Chocolate Pepper
Divide chevre into 4 pieces.

Roll into rounds. Flatten and shape into heart. Roll in chocolate pepper. Serve with crackers.

 

Mixed Green Salad with Strawberries and Chocolate Balsamic

4 C Mixed greens
12 strawberries, sliced
1 shallot, thinly sliced
1/2 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
2 oz chevre
1/2 C olive oil
1/4 C Chocolate Balsamic
1 tsp coarse ground mustard
salt and chocolate pepper to taste

On two plates, evenly divide greens, strawberries, shallots and red bell pepper.

Sprinkle crumbled chevre over top.

In small jar add olive oil, balsamic, mustard, salt and chocolate pepper. Twist lid on tightly and shake until vinaigrette is emulsified.

Drizzle over salad.


Blood Orange Fauxmosa

4 blood oranges
Tost sparking Rose (zero alcohol)
Rose petals or strawberry slices for garnish
Ice

Juice blood oranges. Pour juice into two glasses. Top with Tost, Place a strawberry slice or two or a few rose petals on for garnish.
