America’s pastime has been put on hold during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Many little leaguers are waiting for the season to start at one baseball diamond in Isanti County
A dozen years ago Russ and Ann Mann opened Mann Field.
The couple put in a lot of their own money and raised more than $400,000 in donations for the field.
The Mann’s dream turned into a field of dreams for countless kids who can’t play this season because of the COVID-19 pandemic
"It bothers Ann and I a lot because these kids are like grandkids to us," Russ Mann said.
"It’s heartbreaking," Ann Mann said. "I mean, we just think that we know they want to be out here. We would love them to be out here, but right now their job is to be home and to be safe."
The couple can’t wait for baseball and kids to return to the field.
"I don’t think I’m ever going take the kids or baseball or anything for granted again," Ann Mann said. "I think this is kind of a thing to reassess your life and to see what really matters."
