Many enjoy shopping at their favorite grocery store.

One small-town grocery store in Washington County is known as the oldest in the state.

Marine General Store in Marine on St. Croix opened in 1849. Over the years the store has only changed ownership a few times.

"It’s the heart of the community," Gwen Roden, with Marine General Store, said. "This is the oldest continually operating general store in Minnesota."

The store has everything you would ever need from bread to bait.

"If we don’t have it, you don’t need it," Roden said

There’s no secret to the store’s long success.

"Customer service," Roden said. "I’m optimistic about the future, I think we will be here for a few more generations."
