While the Minnesota State Fair is canceled, some traditions of the Great Minnesota Get-Together will continue.
Litchfield artist Gerry Kulzer will be carving the Princess Kay butter sculptures this year.
"It’s a lot of pressure," Kulzer said. "To know they chose me was an honor."
The pandemic is preventing legendary butter sculptor Linda Christensen from making her annual pilgrimage to the state fair. For the last few years, Kulzer worked side by side with Christensen.
"She was a joy to work with and I’m sad I can’t work with her this year," Kulzer said.
For 10 days starting on August 13, Kulzer will be live-streamed on the Princess Kay Facebook page carving sculptures in the refrigerated butter booth.
