Minnesota Broadcasting Hall of Fame inductee Dave Lee joined Minnesota Live to share stories from his decades-long career with WCCO Radio and other Twin Cities media outlets.

We only had time to discuss his facts about Yogi Berra and Herb Brooks. Here are the other three:

  1. Dave helped legendary singer Etta James up a stage stairway on the TV show “Midnight Special.” You can watch her performance from that day here.
  2. Dave originated the “That’s another Golden Gopher first down,” call for Gopher football.
  3. Dave broadcast for a week from the U.S. Embassy with Walter Mondale (around 1994-1995). Later, he did a show from Wellstone office in D.C. and ended up in the White House.
