Meet the jurors in the federal trial of 3 former Minneapolis officers
The jury has been seated in the federal trial of Thomas Lane, J. Alexander Kueng and Tou Thao, the three former Minneapolis police officers charged with violating George Floyd’s civil rights.
The jury is comprised of eight men and 10 women. One woman is Asian, one man is Asian, and the other jurors are white. There are six alternates.
Below is a look at what else we know about the jury:
Juror No. 3
Juror No. 3 is described as a man who lives in Hennepin County and works at an architect firm. He said he doesn’t have a spouse, has no military experience, likes to brew beer and likes to fix up his house.
Juror No. 6
This male juror has lived in Hennepin County for 40 years and works in a large department store. He is married, has five children and is active in the Minnesota Indonesian Society.
Juror No. 11
Juror No. 11 is described as a man who has lived in Olmsted County for 55 years and is a computer programmer. He said his spouse works in medical research and they have three children involved in the Methodist Church.
Juror No. 14
This female juror lives in Ramsey County and is a public affairs director in local government. She has children, has obtained a graduate degree from the University of Minnesota, and is active with the DFL party.
Juror No. 16
This female juror is a former accountant and is married with two children in their 30s and 40s. She has obtained a bachelor’s degree and is involved in the University of Minnesota’s Master Gardener program.
Juror No. 30
Juror No. 30 is described as a woman who has lived in Washington County for 15 years. She works on logistics for a cooperative and her husband works with her. They have three kids.
Juror No. 41
This male juror said he has been a Ramsey County resident for three years and works in state government as a project manager. His wife works at a college.
Juror No. 43
Juror No. 43 is described as being a woman who lives in Anoka County and is a customer relations manager. She has completed some college courses. She has been married 24 years to her husband, who is a truck driver. They have three adult kids.
Juror No. 46
This female juror lives in Jackson County, stays at home and home-schools her kids. Her husband works in IT. They have five kids, ranging from seventh grade to college.
Juror No. 47 – EXCUSED
This male juror lives in Hennepin County and is a maintenance worker in Eden Prairie. He said his wife works in education. They have two kids in their 20s. The juror said he has served in the Army and was honorably discharged.
On Feb. 9, the judge excused Juror No. 47 due to a family health issue. He was replaced by Juror No. 65.
Juror No. 52 – EXCUSED
Juror No. 52 is an Asian woman who lives in Washington County and works for a school. She said she has a master’s degree in social work. She said her fiancé is trying to become a pastor.
On Feb. 22, the judge excused Juror No. 52. She was replaced by Juror No. 70.
Juror No. 60
Juror No. 60 is a woman who has lived in Scott County for 3 1/2 years and works in product development. She has obtained a master’s degree. She said her husband is retired and their kids are older.
Juror No. 65 – EXCUSED
This male juror lives in Ramsey County, is an account executive, is married and has four young kids at home. He voiced concern about serving as a juror if his kids go to distance learning amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
He was initially an alternate juror but stepped in for Juror No. 47 on Feb. 9. On Feb. 21, the judge excused Juror No. 65 due to a family scheduling conflict. He was replaced by Juror No. 69.
Juror No. 69
This female juror has lived in Olmsted County for 19 years and is a food service worker at a hospital, where her boyfriend also works. She has obtained her high school diploma.
She was initially an alternate juror but replaced Juror No. 65 on Feb. 21.
Juror No. 70
Juror No. 70 is a woman who lives in Nicollet County. She is retired, adding she used to work as a chief. She is a widow, has two kids in their 40s, has completed some college courses and likes to crochet.
She was initially an alternate juror but replaced Juror No. 52 on Feb. 22.
ALTERNATES
Juror No. 73
Juror No. 73 is an Asian man who lives in Ramsey County and works for a mortgage company. He has a wife, four kids and said he has obtained his high school diploma. He said he served on a civil case in August 2021 in Ramsey County.
Juror No. 80 – EXCUSED
This male juror said he has lived in Hennepin County for 71 years. He said he’s retired, has been married for 48 years and has kids and grandkids. He has obtained his MBA, served with the Marines for six years and was honorably discharged, and is now involved in his local VFW.
On Feb. 16, the judge excused Juror No. 80 due to stomach flu issues.
Juror No. 83
Juror No. 83 is a woman who has lived in Anoka County for six years and works in publishing. She said she has been married to her wife for eight years, has obtained her BFA and likes to play bingo.
