Walz signs executive order clarifying local governments’ abilities during pandemic
Gov. Tim Walz on Wednesday signed an executive order clarifying actions local governments and law enforcement can take amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Executive Order 20-47 says local governments and law enforcement aren’t prohibited from taking immediate action to address trespassing or to protect life, injury or preserve evidence within outdoor encampments.
It also gives local governments authority to restrict, limit or close encampments that reach a size or status threatening to the health, safety or security of residents, under certain circumstances.
The order is effective immediately.
