Walz orders flags at half-staff to honor Powell
All state and U.S. flags are to be flown at half-staff in honor of Gen. Colin Powell, who died Monday morning due to complications from COVID-19. He was 84.
Gov. Tim Walz’s order follows President Joe Biden’s proclamation.
All flags are to be flown at half-staff until sunset on Friday.
"General Powell embodied the highest ideals of both a warrior and a diplomat and led with his personal commitment to the democratic values that make our country strong," Walz’s proclamation states. "The President of the United States of America has asked all to remember and celebrate the life of General Colin Powell and honor his legacy."
Individuals, businesses and other organizations are also encouraged to lower their flags.
