Tuesday, Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith are announcing bipartisan legislation to rename the Federal Building in Minneapolis in honor of the late Sen. Paul Wellstone.
The senators say they are pushing for the name to be changed to the Paul D. Wellstone Federal Building.
Tuesday marks the 20th anniversary of Wellstone’s death. He died in a plane crash in Eveleth, Minnesota, along with his wife, daughter, two staffers and two pilots.
The Federal Building currently houses offices for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the National Labor Relations Board and the U.S. Department of State Passport Agency.
The news conference announcing the legislation is set to take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Stay with 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS and KSTP.com for updates.
