Republicans held a non-binding straw poll to see who the party is rallying behind.
As of Wednesday morning, with more than 92% of precincts reporting, the GOP reported the following results of that poll:
Candidate Name | Percent of the Vote |
Scott Jensen | 38% |
Paul Gazelka | 14% |
Neil Shah | 12% |
Mike Murphy | 11% |
Kendall Qualls | 11% |
Michelle Benson | 7% |
Undecided | 7% |
The GOP held the majority of its caucus events in person; meanwhile, the DFL held some of its caucus events in person, with virtual options as well.
The caucuses were also an opportunity for party members to decide on priorities and gather volunteers going forward.
The DFL told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS that they did not conduct straw polls at their caucuses due to no candidates informing them of their intention to run against incumbent elected officials.
