Sen. Amy Klobuchar played a prominent role on the national political stage this week, introducing President Joe Biden during Wednesday’s inauguration. Meanwhile, hundreds of soldiers, airmen and law enforcement from Minnesota and stood guard around Washington, D.C., through the week of the inauguration. Many arrived at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport on Saturday night.

The inauguration looked much different than years past. We compare it to President George W. Bush’s first inauguration — before Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and a raging pandemic — which would seem incomprehensible today.

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is proposing a new standard that opponents say could hurt the car-buying industry in the state. The MPCA says it wants to encourage consumers to buy low- or no-emission vehicles.

Meanwhile, Klobuchar believes the U.S. Senate can proceed with impeaching former President Donald Trump while simultaneously confirming President Biden’s nominees and passing covid-related legislation. Our political analysts weigh in on those ambitious efforts, along with what impeachment could mean for both parties.
