Kelsey Christensen

“What an honor it is to have a front row seat to history. I’m thrilled to be back home in the Twin Cities reporting on stories that matter in a place I love!”

Previous Experience

Kelsey joined KSTP 5 Eyewitness News in April 2022. Before returning to Minnesota, she reported for FOX 5 in San Diego and KMTR in Eugene, Oregon. She was also a traffic reporter at TTWN for Seattle radio stations. She has been the lead reporter on two school campus shootings, a historic snowstorm and a handful of wildfires. Kelsey also uncovered unethical practices within a state department, which led to a new state committee.

Education

Kelsey studied to be a medic at HCMC, while she studied journalism and global studies at the University of Minnesota. During her time as a Gopher, Kelsey was a health reporter and photographer for the Minnesota Daily. She also spent time in Mongolia creating local English news at Channel 1 News International. Kelsey interned for WCCO, KARE11, CCX Media and Governor Mark Dayton.

Before starting her career in news, she worked as a paramedic for the Mayo Clinic for three years. Kelsey also worked as a medic during her free time outside of reporting in Oregon.

Personal Interests

Kelsey believes she finds the best stories to be from the people around her doing amazing things. When she is not chasing a story, you can find her shopping at a local antique store, biking or playing tennis.
