Previous Experience

Callan is thankful to be KSTP’s Saturday evening anchor and weekday evening reporter. Callan joined KSTP 5 Eyewitness News in April 2018. Before that, she was the weekend evening anchor and a reporter at WIVB in Buffalo, NY. She also previously worked as an anchor-reporter at WCYB in the Tri-Cities TN/VA and as a freelance reporter for WBNG in Binghamton, NY. Callan got her start in news as a reporter, producer and host at WAER, the NPR affiliate in Syracuse, NY.  She also interned at stations in Albany, NY and Philadelphia.

Awards

Callan had the opportunity to work on a number of memorable stories during her time in Buffalo, including the 2015 massive search for two escaped inmates in Upstate NY. Her coverage as a reporter and anchor earned her two NY Emmy Award nominations.  The Associated Press also recognized her during her time at WCYB for her reporting on tornados that hit the Tri-Cities in 2014.

Education

Callan grew up in Upstate New York, not far from the capital city Albany. Callan graduated magma cum laude from Syracuse University where she earned dual degrees in Broadcast Journalism and Earth Science. She also minored in Music Industry.

Personal interests

In her spare time, Callan enjoys exploring the outdoors, cooking, downhill skiing and doing yoga and running. Callan looks forward to getting to know the Twin Cities!
