Bailey Hurley
It is an honor to be trusted to share anyone’s story. Each one is an opportunity to make an impact, whether it be big or small. Telling an accurate and fair story is my number one priority each and every day. Being able to be a reporter in the Twin Cities is a dream come true.
Previous Experience
Bailey joined the 5 Eyewitness News Team in July of 2023. Prior to that, she was the Crime and Safety Reporter at Valley News Live in Fargo, ND for over five years. In her role, she scoured through court documents and open records requests to hold those of power accountable, help find justice for those wronged and give a voice to those otherwise silenced. And reporting in North Dakota doesn’t come without covering a million and one blizzards! It might be a bold statement, but she says there’s nothing Minnesota winters can throw at her she hasn’t already endured tenfold. So, bring it on, Mother Nature!
In addition to investigations and severe weather coverage, Bailey covered the coronavirus, riots, elections, and several criminal court cases, including three that made national news due to the sheer brutality the victims suffered. It is an honor to be trusted with telling anyone’s story, and Bailey works hard to make sure those stories are told accurately and fairly no matter the subject.
Education
Bailey is a proud graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. GO BIG RED! In 2018, she earned her Bachelor of Journalism degree, where she also minored in criminology and communications.
Personal Interests
You can find Bailey exploring the many trails in and around Minneapolis with her husband, or checking out a new restaurant (always taking recommendations!). Bailey loves a crisp glass of Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand and thinks charcuterie boards should be served at every meal. She’s also an avid true-crime podcast listener and a fan of any Netflix or Apple TV originals.
