U of M public safety warns of attempted kidnapping

The University of Minnesota Department of Public Safety is warning students of an attempted kidnapping that occurred near campus.
According to the safety notification sent out by the university, the incident occurred just after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Southeast 6th Street and 10th Avenue Southeast.
The Department of Public Safety said the male suspect attempted to push the victim into the back seat of a car. The suspect then fled northbound from the area.
The suspect is described by the Minneapolis Police Department as a white male. He has gray facial hair and was seen wearing a gray hoodie with blue pants that had a stripe.
U of M senior Kete Bechtold said of the incident, "Normally at night is when I'm holding on to my pepper spray and looking around."
The Minneapolis Police Department is investigating the incident, according to the Department of Public Safety.
