Suspect in custody after fatally shooting sister in Chanhassen
A man is in custody after he shot and killed his sister Saturday afternoon in Chanhassen.
According to the Carver County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a fire alarm around 2:20 p.m. on the 3700 block of Landings Drive and were alerted shortly after that a shooting had been reported at the same address. The suspect was believed to be inside the home and had reportedly shot his older sister. The sheriff’s office said both the suspect and the victim lived at the address.
When deputies arrived, they began to get reports that the suspect had left the residence and was on foot nearby. The suspect had admitted to a person walking in the area that he had shot his sister and told the person to call the police.
According to the sheriff’s office, the 20-year-old suspect was arrested without incident around 3:16 p.m. The victim, a 25-year-old woman, was found deceased inside the home.
The shooting remains under investigation.
