During the riots in south Minneapolis last month, Danny Zerka’s family’s gas station was burned and looted.
On Sunday, Zerka raised money for the community by running for 8 hours and 46 minutes in honor of George Floyd.
"About two marathons," Zerka said.
Many members of the community helped clean up his family store Stop N Shop on First Avenue South after the riots.
All the money will be donated to the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, the nation’s largest organization exclusively representing historically black colleges and universities.
"All I’m doing here is showing a thanks and showing respect for a man who was killed," Zerka said.
Zerka says his family hopes to reopen their gas station soon.
