A man died Wednesday night in the midst of the South Minneapolis protests.

According to the Minneapolis Police, officers responded to the area of Bloomington Avenue and Lake Street at 9:25 p.m. on the report of a possible stabbing.

Upon arrival, officers found an adult male in grave condition on the sidewalk. Officers began providing first aid and the victim was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The wound was later determined to be a gunshot wound.

One suspect is in custody in relation to the shooting.

A police spokesman says “one of the theories” they're investigating is reports that he had been shot by a store owner.

The investigation is ongoing into this incident.
