Male victim suffering from gunshot wounds died overnight in Minneapolis

An adult male died overnight at the hospital after suffering a gunshot wound in Minneapolis Saturday evening, according to the Minneapolis Police Department. 

At 7:30 p.m., the Minneapolis Emergency Communication Center received a ShotSpotter activation in the area of 3000 block of Dupont Avenue North. 

When officers arrived at the scene, they located an adult male victim, believed to be in his 40's lying outside and suffering from a gunshot wounds, said police. 

Officers provided aid until they were relieved by paramedics. 

The victim was transported to the North Memorial Medical Center, where he underwent emergency surgery. 

As other officers were investigating the area with the Minneapolis Police Department’s Violent Crime Investigative and the Crime Lab personnel, they were notified that the victim had died overnight. 

A death investigation has been launched. Officers also canvassed the area and spoke with several people.

The identity of the victim will not be released until the next of kin is notified.
