The family of George Floyd is preparing a memorial service in North Carolina for Saturday.

"He was a great guy, he was Christ-centered, because that was a part of his upbringing," said Roger Floyd, George’s uncle.

Roger will be at the memorial for George this weekend along with other family members.

"I believe his death is certainly a sacrifice,” Roger said. “It’s at a time as such, the world is now seeing what Black Lives Matter has been all about."

Roger said the family out east is pleased that Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison filed criminal charges against all four now-former Minneapolis Police officers connected to George’s death.

His death was caught on video during an incident on Memorial Day in south Minneapolis.

"We want justice, we want fairness, and that’s what’s critically important at this time," Roger said.

Demonstrating peacefully, Roger said, is key to bring about change in George Floyd’s name around the world.

“Would be so elated and really shocked, my life has made such a change, just the momentum that has been started … it’s unbelievable," Roger said about how his nephew would feel about the public outcry.
