Communities United Against Police Brutality Protest planned for Downtown Minneapolis Thursday

The group Communities United Against Police Brutality is planning a protest in response to the death of George Floyd. Four Minneapolis Police officers were fired in the incident.

According to a news release, the protest will be held at the Hennepin County Government Center Plaza at 5 p.m. Thursday.

"There is plenty of probable cause to arrest the men who murdered George Floyd," stated Michelle Gross, President of Communities United Against Police Brutality. "These men are a danger to society. If this murder had been committed by members of the community, they would be sitting in jail right now awaiting trial."

None of the officers have been charged at this time.

The community also is asking Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to use his powers in appointing a special prosecutor not affiliated with the Hennepin County Prosecutor’s Office, nor the Attorney General’s Office.
