2-year-old victim in Brooklyn Park shooting dies

A 2-year-old child who was shot Thursday morning in Brooklyn Park has died, police confirmed Saturday.

Police responded to an apartment on the 5800 block of 73rd Avenue around 7:11 a.m. The victim was found with a gunshot wound to the stomach and was then taken to the hospital in critical condition, police said.

The child’s mother, 20-year-old Osheonia Nypre Hodges, and grandmother, 57-year-old Sherrillyn Kay Mosley, are accused of covering up the crime. Brooklyn Park Police Department detectives took them into custody Friday afternoon.

Police are still looking for 20-year-old Keyshawn Lemont Cosey-Gray, who is believed to be involved in the shooting. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911.
