15-year-old in critical condition after Fridley shooting; 17-year-old in custody

Authorities say a teenager is in critical condition after a shooting that’s believed to have occurred in Fridley and another teen is in custody.

According to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, Fridley police were called to Mercy Hospital-Unity Campus at about 7:05 p.m. Sunday on a report that a 15-year-old boy had shown up with a gunshot wound.

The boy remained in the hospital Monday afternoon in critical condition, the sheriff’s office said.

Officials said the shooting is believed to have happened in the 6000 block of Main Street in Fridley.

Authorities have taken a 17-year-old into custody but formal charges haven’t yet been filed.

The investigation remains ongoing.
