1 dead, 1 injured in officer-involved shooting in St. Croix Falls

One person is dead and another injured Saturday night in an officer-involved shooting in Wisconsin.

According to the St. Croix Falls Police Department, at 9:44 p.m., officers responded to a woman who called 911 in need of help at the Dalles House Motel.

Once officers arrived at the scene, they reported to the motel room with the woman and an adult male armed with a knife had exited the room. The man refused to drop the knife after several officers commanded, said police.

The man then began to rush at the police with the knife, forcing an officer to discharge his weapon, the department said. The man later succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

When officers entered the motel room, they found a woman with several stab wounds to her neck and chest. The victim was airlifted to a metro hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time.

The Barron County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting.
