Wolves/Lynx partner with MATTER to make meal kits for South Minneapolis community center

The Minnesota Timberwolves, Lynx and T-Wolves gaming players and staff were involved making meal kits for Urban Ventures, a community center in south Minneapolis on Thursday afternoon. Jake Layman, Rachel Banham, Ethan Casson and Karima Chistmas-Kelly were also on hand putting meal kits and snack packs together.

"I’m very happy to do my part in the community. I grew up here and it’s very important for me to make sure the people who need help get the assistance they need," said Lynx guard Rachel Banham.

"It’s great to have such positive role models in our organization. We strive to have high character athletes on both the Wolves and Lynx and I couldn’t be happier to see the impact these people are making in our community," said Timberwolves/Lynx CEO Ethan Casson.

The goal was for all the volunteers to pack 1,000 meal kits and 2,000 snack packs. The Pack for a purpose event is an extension of the organizations partnership with Hy-Vee to educate families on simple steps to make healthy meal choices.

The Timberwolves, Lynx, and Hy-Vee matched the donations from Hy-Vee customers with a total of $15,000 raised from the campaign.
