Wild sign defenseman Jon Merrill to 1-year deal
The Minnesota Wild added another defenseman to the roster on the second day of free agency on Thursday.
Defenseman Jon Merrill signed a one-year, $850,000 contract with the Wild.
The 29-year-old had five assists and 70 blocked shots in 49 games for Detroit and Montreal last season.
The 6-foot-3, 195-pound Oklahoma City native also had 11 hits and 23 blocked shots in 13 Stanley Cup Playoff games last year.
Merrill was originally a second-round (No. 38 overall) pick in the 2010 NHL Draft by the New Jersey Devils.
