Wild sign 4 on opening day of free agency
The Minnesota Wild added to its depth Wednesday, signing four players on the opening day of free agency.
The team agreed to terms with forwards Brandon Baddock, Steven Fogarty and Nic Petan, and defenseman Andrej Sustr.
All four players signed two-way contracts, with Baddock’s and Sustr’s being for one year and Fogarty’s and Petan’s for two years.
Baddock, 27, tallied eight points (3-5=8) and 131 penalty minutes in 61 games between Laval and Iowa of the American Hockey League (AHL) during the 2021-22 season. He was acquired by Minnesota from Montreal for Andrew Hammond on Feb. 12.
Fogarty, 29, played two games for the Boston Bruins last year but played 62 games with the AHL’s Providence Bruins, totaling 42 points (12-30=42) and 34 penalty minutes.
Petan, 27, played 18 games for the Vancouver Canucks last season, recording two assists and two penalty minutes. He also recorded 32 points (9-23=32) and 26 penalty minutes in 47 games with the Abbotsford Canucks.
Sustr, 31, racked up one assist and six penalty minutes in 15 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning and 12 points (2-10=12) and eight penalty minutes in 25 games with the Syracuse Crunch.
