Wild, Merrill agree to 3-year extension

The Minnesota Wild has locked up one of its defensemen.
The team announced it agreed to a three-year, $3.6 million extension with Jon Merrill that will keep the defenseman in Minnesota through the 2024-25 season.
The 29-year-old signed a one-year deal with the Wild in the offseason and has recorded 11 points (three goals, eight assists) and 51 blocked shots in 33 games this season.
Overall, Merrill has a plus-eight rating and is tied for the team lead in blocked shots.
Minnesota’s next game is against the Anaheim Ducks on Friday night.
