Wayzata jumped on Cooper early and built up an 18-8 lead in the first half. Cooper’s Davion Evans and Broderick Powell kept the game close, Evans finished the game with 15 points, while Powell poured in 14 points of his own.

But it was Wayzata’s Eddie Beeninga who often had the answer, Beeninga did a lot of his damage in the paint. Teammates Cam Heide and Kody Williams both chipped in with 10 points apiece.

Cooper did cut the deficit to four points in the second half, but that would be as close as they’d get as Wayzata moves on to the state tournament with the eight-point win.
