Justin Jefferson was elected to be part of last week’s NFL’s Pro Bowl ceremonies, now he’s awaiting word as a finalist for the NFL’s Rookie of the Year Award sponsored by Pepsi Zero Sugar.

Jefferson broke Randy Moss’ Vikings rookie receiving records, then went on to become the most prolific rookie receiver in modern history with 1,400 yards on 88 catches. He also scored 7 touchdowns.

The Rookie of the Year will be announced later this week.

Joining Jefferson on the list of finalists are: L.A. Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert – who is favored to win the award, Jacksonville Jaguars running back James Robinson – who would be the first undrafted player to be Rookie of the Year, running back Jonathan Taylor of the Indianapolis Colts and Washington defensive end Chase Young.

Without an actual Pro Bowl game to be played, the highlight of Jefferson’s involvement in the week’s online and virtual events was a video chat with Vikings legend Randy Moss. Moss stumped for Jefferson to win Rookie of the Year honors and, during the televised video chat between the two, signed the cleats Jefferson wore this season that featured Moss’ likeness.

Jefferson is spending this week in the Tampa area ahead of the Super Bowl, but says he won’t be attending the game.
