Vikings safety Cine has surgery to fix leg fracture

The Minnesota Vikings say rookie safety Lewis Cine’s surgery Tuesday to repair a leg fracture was successful.

Cine was carted off the field in the first quarter of Sunday’s game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in what coach Kevin O’Connell described as a “very tough moment for our team.”

The team later confirmed that Cine suffered a compound fracture.

According to the organization, Cine will remain in London until he’s able to return to Minnesota. However, the team added that it is looking “forward to welcoming Lewis back to Minnesota to be around his teammates and coaches and begin the rehabilitation process with the Vikings medical staff in the very near future.”

Cine also tweeted a statement Tuesday telling fans, “please know your support has been truly felt.” He added, “I’m looking forward to returning to Minnesota, supporting my teammates and attacking this rehab so I can get back to doing what I love to do. Skol Vikings!”
