Vikings’ Rudolph donates 82K meals to Second Harvest, urges others to give what they can
Minnesota Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph and his wife, Jordan, are known not only for football but for the charitable work they do in the community. On Monday, they stepped up again in a time when many are struggling and urged others who are able to follow their lead.
The Rudolphs announced they’re donating 82,000 meals to Second Harvest Heartland to help Minnesotans being hit the hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Along with their donation, the Rudolphs set up a goal of raising $200,000 for Second Harvest, which would provide 600,000 meals for local families. If you’d like to donate to or learn more about their campaign, click here.
Several other current and former Vikings have stepped up to help others during the pandemic, too.
Adam Thielen and his wife, Caitlin, donated $25,000 to Second Harvest Heartland.
Former Viking Chad Greenway and his wife, Jenni, used their Lead the Way Foundation to kickoff a Hunger Relief Campaign and partnered with The Sheridan Story, which is working with several local districts in Minnesota and western Wisconsin to provide food for students who qualify for free and reduced lunch. The Greenways also donated $10,000 to get their campaign started.
Anthony Barr, through his Raise the Barr foundation, is offering emergency grants to all current or former recipients of his program’s scholarship, saying that all applications would be approved. Raise the Barr helps single parents complete their postsecondary education.
Vikings owners Zygi, Mark and Lenny Wilf, and their families, also donated $250,000 from the Vikings last week to help the local community during the pandemic and matched that amount from The Wilf Family Foundations to bring their total donation to $500,000.
