Vikings release Shamar Stephen

Tuesday, the Minnesota Vikings cut another veteran from the squad.

The team announced it had released defensive tackle Shamar Stephen.

After being picked by the Vikings in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL Draft, Stephen played six seasons for the Vikings and one other season for Seattle in 2018.

In 83 total games with the Vikings, the 30-year-old recorded 142 tackles, 2.5 sacks and 1 forced fumble. His release helps clear some salary cap space for the Vikings.

Stephen is the latest veteran to be released by Minnesota this offseason, following Kyle Rudolph and Dan Bailey.
