Vikings’ Mike Zimmer reacts to no fans at games, gives update on Cameron Smith and Ben Gideon

Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer met with the media via Zoom Tuesday morning to discuss the team’s ruling that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, their first two home games will be closed to the public.

Zimmer also discussed bringing in senior defensive assistant Dom Capers to the staff, whether the league should have one policy on fans being allowed at games, LB Cameron Smith having a successful heart surgery this week, CB Cam Dantzler’s consistency, and how he likes his new defensive identity with the young players.

The Vikings open their season Sept. 13 at U.S. Bank Stadium vs. Green Bay.
