Vikings make cuts, trades to set initial roster

Tuesday, the Minnesota Vikings made a series of roster moves to get to the league-mandated roster size.

By making a pair of trades and several cuts, Minnesota set its initial 53-man roster.

Among those cut were defensive linemen Armon Watts and Jaylen Twyman, quarterbacks Kellen Mond and Sean Mannion, and former third-round draft pick Wyatt Davis. The full list of cuts can be seen below.

Additionally, the Vikings traded offensive lineman Jesse Davis to Pittsburgh for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2025, and sent a 2023 sixth-round pick to Houston for defensive lineman Ross Blacklock and a 2023 seventh-round pick.

Finally, the team waived defensive lineman Jullian Taylor with an injury settlement.

With rosters now cut down, teams can start filling their 16-man practice squads on Wednesday. Teams can also continue to adjust the roster.

Minnesota opens the regular season on Sept. 11 against Green Bay.
