Vikings: Cook questionable to play against Lions; Pierce, Smith-Marsette out

The Minnesota Vikings released their final injury report Friday ahead of Sunday’s matchup against the Detroit Lions (0-4).

Running back Dalvin Cook has been listed as questionable (ankle) after only being a limited participant in practice on Friday. He didn’t practice earlier in the week. If he sits, Alexander Mattison will take over starting duties.

Other players who are out this week include defensive tackle Michael Pierce (elbow) and wide receiver Ihmir Smith-Marsette (toe). The rookie will miss his second consecutive game, while Pierce will miss Sunday’s contest after leaving with an injury in last week’s loss to the Cleveland Browns.

Linebacker Anthony Barr will make his season debut on Sunday.

As for the Lions, running backs D’Andre Swift (groin) and Jamaal Williams (hip) are listed as questionable, as are tight end T.J. Hockenson (knee), offensive lineman Penei Sewell (ankle) and linebacker Trey Flowers (knee).
