Vikings agree to 1-year deal with LB Nick Vigil

The Vikings’ defense was one of the worst in the NFL in 2020. On the first day of free agency, they added help, agreeing to deals with DT Dalvin Tomlinson and LB Nick Vigil.

Vigil will sign a 1-year deal, a source tells KSTP Sports. It’s worth $1.35M guaranteed.

Vigil, 27, spent last season with the Chargers. He played 15 games with two starts, seeing action on 312 defensive snaps and 216 on special teams. He recorded 50 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble.

Vigil began his career in Cincinnati after the Bengals made him a third-round choice in 2016. New Vikings’ senior defensive consultant, Paul Guenther, was the Bengals’ defensive coordinator when they selected Vigil. In other words, he knows him well.

Vigil’s addition seemingly signals the end of Eric Wilson’s time with the Vikings. He’s an unrestricted free agent.
