Twins place catcher Ryan Jeffers on 10-day injured list
The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed catcher Ryan Jeffers on the 10-day Injured List with a right thumb contusion.
Jeffers has played in 60 games for the Twins this season, hitting .214 (41-for-192) with 10 doubles, seven home runs, 25 RBI, 21 walks, a .291 on-base percentage and a .375 slugging percentage.
His game-calling has been a reason why Twins starting pitchers have one of the best collective earned run averages in the American League.
To replace Jeffers on the 26-man roster, the Twins have selected the contract of catcher Caleb Hamilton from Triple-A St. Paul. Hamilton, 27, is looking to make his MLB debut.
