Twins move Megill to IL, select Sanchez

The Minnesota Twins will finish up the season this week but will do so without relief pitcher Trevor Megill.

Monday, the club placed Megill on the 15-day injured list due to a left oblique strain.

With the Twins scheduled to finish the regular season on Wednesday in Chicago, Megill’s season is over. This season, he pitched in 39 games for Minnesota, going 4-3 with a 4.80 ERA, 49 strikeouts and 17 walks across 45 innings.

To take his roster spot, the team selected pitcher Aaron Sanchez, who has appeared in seven games for the Twins this season. In those appearances, he’s 0-1 with a 4.00 ERA across 27 innings.

In a corresponding roster move, the Twins moved Kyle Garlick to the 60-day injured list.

Minnesota (77-82) is guaranteed to finish the season with a losing record, regardless of the outcome of the final three games against the White Sox.
