Twins jump White Sox in standings after win Wednesday night
The Twins scored twice in the third, fourth and fifth and beat the Tigers 7-6 at Target Field. With the win and the White Sox loss in Cleveland, Minnesota is now 1/2 game up in the race for the Central Division title.
Jake Cave hit a pair of home runs, Kenta Maeda finished off his regular season with another strong start.
Eddie Rosario added a two-run homer for Minnesota, which has won four straight. Maeda allowed three runs and four hits in six innings with nine strikeouts., improving to 6-1.
The Twins are off on Thursday, then the Reds come to Target Field for a 3-game series to wrap up the regular season. Jose Berrios, in line to start Game 2 of the opening playoff series, will start the opener vs. Cincinnati.
