Twins Jorge Polanco placed on 10-day injured list, Alex Kirilloff recalled

The Minnesota Twins announced that infielder Jorge Polanco has been placed on the 10-day injured list on Thursday (retroactive to June 13) with low back tightness.

This is Polanco’s first stint on a major league injured list and his second on a professional injured list after he missed time with Low-A Cedar Rapids in August of 2013 for a right groin strain.

Polanco has hit .245 (53-for-216) with 10 doubles, seven home runs, 33 RBI, 32 walks, 28 runs scored, and a .729 OPS in 58 games for the Twins this season.

The Twins have recalled outfielder/ first baseman Alex Kirilloff from Triple-A St. Paul to replace Polanco. This is Krilloff’s second stint with the Twins this season, after being in the club from Opening Day- May 14. Krilloff has hot .385 (42-for-109) with seven doubles, 10 home runs, 31 RBI, 16 walks, 32 runs scored, a .477 on-base percentage, and a 1.201 OPS in 28 games for the Saints from May 15-June 16.

Krilloff was also named International League Player of the Week for May 30-June 5.
