Twins designate Matt Shoemaker for release, assignment; Derek Law called up

On Thursday, the Minnesota Twins announced a couple of roster moves involving their pitching staff.

Matt Shoemaker, who has appeared in 16 games and has an 8.06 ERA this season, has been designated for release or assignment. He has also recorded a 3-8 record with 27 walks and 40 strikeouts in 60.1 innings pitched.

Derek Law will be making his second stint with the club this season, after previously appearing in five games from May 8-17. At the Major League level, he has allowed six runs in 6.1 innings pitched, with nine strikeouts in those outings.

With the St. Paul Saints, Law has posted a 4.61 ERA with four walks and 12 strikeouts in 11 relief appearances.
