Twins announce plans for ‘Jim Kaat Day’
As the Minnesota Twins prepare to retire Jim Kaat’s number, the team has announced some details for the celebration.
The former pitcher’s No. 36 will be retired in a ceremony before the 1:10 p.m. game against the Chicago White Sox on July 16.

The 2022 National Baseball Hall of Fame electee will join Harmon Killebrew, Rod Carew, Tony Oliva, Kent Hrbek, Kirby Puckett, Bert Blyleven, Tom Kelly and Joe Mauer as the ninth Twins player or manager to have his number retired.
Kaat, 83, will be joined by his family, friends, many past teammates and other former Twins during the ceremony.
The organization says tickets are still available and the first 10,000 fans in attendance will get a special Kaat bobblehead.
