Twin Cities resident Trent Tucker has had a decorated college and professional career in basketball, stemming from his days at the University of Minnesota.

Tucker ended his professional basketball career with the Chicago Bulls, leaving the NBA as a champion.

KSTP-TV sports director Joe Schmit spent some time with Tucker during a Zoom interview to reflect on Tucker’s playing days with Michael Jordan and discuss The Last Dance documentary on ESPN.

Tucker was a first-round pick by the New York Knicks in 1982, after playing four years at the University of Minnesota.

In his 11th NBA season, Tucker decided to sign as a free agent with the Chicago Bulls and he helped the Bulls capture the team’s second NBA championship.

Ultimately, it was his last season in the NBA.

Tucker received some interesting advice from teammate Michael Jordan following the 1992-93 season: "I just believe this is the right time and the right way for you to go out," Jordan said, and Tucker agreed.

The Bulls would go on to win four more World Championships and Tucker has remained friends with Jordan ever since.
